I've had my K5k for a week now. It kind of grows on you. What I've noticed is
that the "Resonance" knob seems only to recognize changes at "note on". Is
this normal? Plus, this thing
(resonance) really squeals. Is that because it is a digital system?
I have an AN1X and its RES doesn't sound anything like this one.(analog modeling)

Squeal and Resonate

It sounds like the resonance is causing your filter to clip. I really like that
sound myself but of course there is a time and a place for everything :)
You can get rid of that sound by lowering the "DCF Level" on the DCF page. The
DCF is like a pre-filter attenuation. It's also possible for you to clip at the
Harmonic/Formant Filter level, so if the above doesn't work you might need to
lower the levels of your FF.
The resonance thing is normal.

hi! in order to get hi rez without distortion -
u should low down the level of DCF output on
the DCF page to something like 4.

The K5000s resonance is not "realtime" it is calculated offline just like a
Roland D50 or and Akai Sampler, and then applied to the next note. I have
verified this with Troy at Kawai.
It appears that resonance can be controlled with the user knobs if the other
setting is to the formant filter, which might be set to emulated a rezzy filter,
thereby causing realtime resonance
